Probate & Estate Administration
Serving Marshall, Longview, and all of East Texas
Losing someone you love is hard. Sorting through their affairs, dealing with the courthouse, and handling banks or property can feel overwhelming. My goal is to make this process simple, respectful, and as stress-free as possible for families in East Texas.
I’m Shelia McCoy, and I help people take care of their loved one’s final affairs—whether that means getting a will probated, settling debts, or transferring a home or bank account. You don’t have to know anything about legal terms or paperwork. I’ll explain every step in plain English, keep you informed, and make sure everything is done right the first time.
How I Help Families
One Step at a Time
Most Texas probates can be handled with just one short court hearing. I’ll prepare everything, appear with you in court, and help with all follow-up tasks—so you can focus on your family, not the forms.
Handling the Details
Every family’s situation is different, but I commonly assist with:
- Proving a will so property can be transferred legally.
- Helping when there’s no will by identifying heirs and getting the court’s approval.
- Small estate affidavits when the estate is modest and qualifies for a simpler option.
- Clearing title to homes, land, or vehicles so they can be sold or passed to heirs.
- Dealing with creditors and protecting what’s left for your family.
What Happens After a Loved One Passes Away
- We talk. You tell me what happened and what property needs to be handled.
- I prepare the paperwork. I’ll file the court documents and handle notices.
- We attend a short hearing. Most take only a few minutes, and I’ll be right beside you.
- We transfer property. I’ll help you change deeds, close accounts, and finish the process.
You don’t have to go through this alone. I’ve guided many East Texas families through probate, heirship, and estate administration. My promise is simple: I’ll treat your family with the same care and respect I would want for my own.
